Michael Dean Named Next Westside Boys Varsity Soccer Coach

Posted August 9, 2019

Michael Dean is the new Head Boys Soccer Coach at Westside High School. Dean brings a wealth of knowledge and experience both as a stand-out high school and collegiate player and nationally recognized coach as being named National Club Coach of the Year in 2012.

Dean competed for Omaha Burke High School, winning an NSAA Class A State Championship and finishing as state runner up three times. He then played soccer at Bellevue University before becoming a coach. His coaching experience includes leadership roles with Sporting Omaha (boys 14-19), the Millard West Boys Soccer Team, and the Bellevue University Women’s Soccer Team. In 2012, Dean was named USYS National Coach of the Year.

“It is an honor to coach at a high school with the tradition and support of the community that Westside has,” said Dean. “I am looking forward to working with the players and staff and giving the community a program that they can continue to be proud of.”

“He brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to the program,” said Westside Athletic Director Tom Kerkman. “We look forward to continuing to have one of the best soccer programs in the state.”
