Extended Campus Learning Form Now Available
Posted July 13, 2020
Thank you to all of our staff members, students and family members who have actively engaged with us to learn more about our plans for fall. As a reminder, Westside intends to begin school August 18 with 100% of students back in school using close to a traditional school-day and school-year calendar with numerous social-distancing guidelines and safety measures in place.
We realize that for some families, there are circumstances that make being physically at school very difficult. For families who are required for medical reasons, and for those who wish to continue to keep children at-home, we are offering extended campus learning during the 20-21 school year because of concerns surrounding COVID-19. For those who wish to take part in this, the following process will be in place:
- Families must complete an Intent To Participate In Extended Campus Learning form by July 23. If a family moves into the district after this date and desires to participate in extended campus learning, they will complete the form at the time of registration. A separate form should be completed for each child. COMPLETE THE FORM HERE: https://forms.gle/DE6QS9RtFuPWf5kF9
- When filing for extended campus learning, please note your family is committing to at least one academic quarter of extended campus learning from August 18 through October 15; this is to assist with staffing, planning, and grading. A determination will be made during the first quarter if extended campus learning will continue second quarter, at which time another “Intent To Participate” form will be filed.
- Attendance will be taken daily, and school/state attendance policies will be followed.
- Please see this form for additional information about what extended campus learning will look like for the first quarter: https://tinyurl.com/y96m68nm
Students who are attending school on campus and who become ill or are asked to quarantine for 14 days or less will continue to work with their assigned classroom teacher following traditional illness procedures and policies. Illnesses beyond 14 days will be handled on an individual basis, starting with a conference with the building principal.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We will continue to communicate updated plans in the days and weeks to come.
