Westside Middle School 7th grader Lexi Zeiss was recently invited to attend a USA Gymnastics developmental training camp. Camp invitations were extended by Kim Riley (Managing Director of Athlete Programs for USA Gymnastics) and Tom Forster (High Performance Director of the US Women’s National Team).
Lexi and her coach Kelley Banks Green trained with National Team coaches for four days in Crossville, Tennessee. The camp is held to provide the highest level of training and development to both the athletes and coaches working within the Elite program with USA Gymnastics.
Zeiss, 12 years old, started gymnastics when she was two. Her goal is to compete in upcoming Elite Qualifiers in hopes of becoming one of only 70 Elite gymnasts in the country. Should she qualify she would be able to compete in the US Classic which is held each summer.
