Westside teacher receives International award
Westside Middle School teacher David Shabram has been awarded the Emerging Leader Distinction by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association.
Shabram, who teaches Engineering and Technology at Westside Middle School, will be formally presented with his award at the association’s annual conference in Atlanta in April.
Dr. Blane McCann, Superintendent of Westside Community Schools, was among those who nominated Shabram for this honor. He wrote:
- David is an excellent educator and extremely innovative as a classroom teacher. He is constantly evolving and trying new things to engage and challenge his students in lessons and in becoming lifelong learners. He shares his knowledge with his colleagues, serving on a number of district committees and is very active at the state level as well. This recognition by the ITEEA is well-deserved.
“David is one of the most outstanding teachers I have worked with in my 38 years as an educator,” said Dr. McCann. “He is an inspiring teacher and his students are engaged in the classroom on a daily basis. He is a leader in his field and a well respected colleague.”
Congratulations, Mr. Shabram!
