Westside Superintendent named Outstanding Educational Leader of 2017
Westside Superintendent Dr. Blane McCann has been named the Outstanding Educational Leader of 2017, recognized at the PDK World Cafe and Awards this month.
“Each year, PDK chapter #0116 nominates and selects three annual awards,” said Dr. Tami Williams, Assistant Professor with the College of Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. “The Outstanding Educational Leader award is given to an area educational leader who has made a significant impact in education, is seen as a leader by peers in education, and shows evidence of supporting the three PDK tenets of leadership, service, and research. Congratulations to Dr. McCann!”
“Dr. McCann is responsible for our current vision and Strategic Plan at Westside High School and is a Personalized Learning Leader,” said Dr. Gregory Betts, Director of Professional Learning For Westside Community Schools. “He models constant learning by leading administrative learning labs, presenting during professional learning days, he’s a PDK presenter and is a week long session leader for the University of Connecticutt’s Confraturate. He is also a consistent voice in state government working with elected officials to positively impact public education.”
Dr. McCann has also received the Lexington Education Leadership Award, and was invited to the White House as a recognized thought leader for the United States Department of Education’s ConnectEd Summit.
Dr. McCann was also honored at the Westside Board of Education meeting on March 6.
