Westside students win top honors in Architecture, Engineering
Westside Architecture and Engineering students recently won top honors including the Post President’s Award from the Society of American Military Engineers.
Many of these students are members of the Student Mentoring Program (SMP), Westside’s Architecture and Engineering Club. The Post President’s Award is the overall first place award and highest honor determined by the Society. Contributing to that first place finish was recognition the students received in a variety of categories including Gold Level status in Applied Science, Innovation, Research, Teamwork, Technology, Sustainability, and Presentation. Students also earned Silver Level status in Written Proposal.
Congratulations to Shawn Plucinski (Team Captain), David Atri Schuller, Daniel Guo, Maya Gray, Reagan Jones, Erik Wilson, Ethan Forcade and Soren Johnson, as well teacher and coach Tyler Foster.
“The students worked hard all year,” said Foster. “[They developed] a cheaper and more sustainable method of launching cargo and satellites into space by using an induction coil gun.”
