Mary McPadden, a School Psychologist with Westside Community Schools, has been awarded the Outstanding School Psychologist of the Year Award by the Nebraska School Psychologists Association. McPadden received the honor at the NSPA Fall Conference Thursday at the UNO Thompson Alumni Center.
McPadden currently serves students at Oakdale Elementary; she has worked with Westside Community Schools for over 20 years.
“Mary is a trusted resource among staff in her buildings, for parents she works with, and within her school psych peer group,” said Westside colleague Monica McKevitt. “Her expertise and insight has put her on a number of district committees, and made her a wonderful mentor and practicum supervisor during her 20+ years of service. I can think of few people as deserving as Mary to receive the School Psychologist of the Year award.”
“Mary McPadden is one of the most talented, driven, and dedicated professionals I have ever had the privilege to work alongside,” said Westside Director of Special Services Dr. Kami Jessop. “Mary has a keen ability to respectfully engage families and make thoughtful decisions about students. Our district is better because of her leadership.”
“I have worked with Mary during my last ten years at Westside in two different school settings and there is no one I would rather have by my side when it comes to advocating for students and families,” said Oakdale Principal, Glen Jagels. “Parents and teachers frequently come to me to to share their thanks for the many things Mary has done for them in their home and school setting.”
