Westside High named 2017 Nebraska ACT Exemplary High School
Westside High School has been honored with the Nebraska College and Career Transition Award, named a 2017 Nebraska ACT Exemplary High School by ACT State Organizations.
WHS staff were notified of the honor last week, chosen among all applicants in the 2016-2017 ACT College and Career Readiness Campaign. In 2016, Westside ACT scores rose .5 points. Westside students cumulatively scored 2.3 points higher than the state average.
“Our Vision Statement indicates that we look at a broader, richer definition of success,” said Dr. Mark Weichel, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. “Because of this, we look at many sources of information to assess our work; test scores are just one measure.”
Westside High will receive a banner and recognition certificate, and will move forward in the consideration process for national recognition to be recognized in the fall of 2017 in Iowa City, Iowa.
Our congratulations to Principal Jay Opperman, Assistant Principal Kim De La Cruz, and all staff and students at Westside High School!
