Westgate Educator Named Teacher of the Month
Mary Morris, 3rd Grade Teacher at Westgate Elementary, has been named January Teacher of the Month for Westside Community Schools.
Morris is awarded $100, thanks to Natalie Williams and Amigo’s Restaurant at 84th & Dodge.
Morris was nominated by Westside administrators, colleagues, and community members. One nominator wrote:
- “Mary has a heart for all students. She has worked with some of the most difficult, showing an understanding of what they need to be successful. Going the extra mile is what Mary does for all students. She wants them to be successful and will continue to adapt and change her instruction to meet their needs.”
Amigo’s Restaurant at 84th and Dodge is one of several local businesses who have offered support for Westside teachers as part of our Teacher of the Month program. Special thanks to Natalie Williams for facilitating this generous donation!
Congratulations, Mrs. Morris, and thank you to Natalie Williams and Amigo’s Restaurant for supporting Westside teachers!
With the help of local businesses, a special committee will select an outstanding teacher each month, nominated by students, parents and co-workers, to receive $100 and be honored by the Westside Board of Education.
