UPDATE: Mayor’s Office reevaluating closure of traffic light at 108th & Oak
Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert’s office has announced they have directed the Traffic Engineering Division to reevaluate plans to remove at traffic light at 108th and Oak due to its proximity to a school.
A sign indicating plans for removal was posted at the intersection in July, causing concern for families who use Oakdale Elementary, Rockbrook Elementary, West Campus and the CAPS program.
Friday, the Mayor’s office indicated they have requested additional studies to be scheduled for the intersection for the duration of the school year. Two signals near Dundee Elementary School will also be studied, completed by an engineering firm hired by the city to provide another opinion.
Those with comments and feedback are encouraged to call the City of Omaha Public Works Department at 402-444-5160.
